Noob Question about Belting

Good Afternoon!

Noob question here. What are the pluses and minuses of belting tires on your bashers? As I understand you will lose speed for better traction/control at high speeds. I was considering using twine, fishing line, etc. to serve as a make shift belt on my Proline Badlands. There are some YouTube tutorials on how to do this. If I did this I might want to gear up? This is on a Granite BLX, currently running stock 15 tooth. Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you!

Belted tires are generally heavier, and just don’t have as much cushion for jumping. Other than that, it’s all good stuff.

I’d stay away from gearing up when you belt tires.

Are you actually ballooning bad on 3s? I had Badlands on my granite and I remember not really having that problem almost at all.

But to answer your question this is what I use on my tires now. You will wheelie less for sure. And you will not be able to backflip as easily. There are plus and minuses. Gear up if you want to just make sure you aren't over heating
