I’ve destroyed two diffs recently in my granite and notice that the teeth get worn very thin before shredding I use white lithium grease and was wondering what everyone else uses for diff grease.

I use WD40 specialist heavy duty high temperature grease on the kraton 4s diffs. Partly only because that’s what I had on hand when I serviced my diffs haha but it’s been working great. No destroyed diffs for me

For the spur and pinion gear on the diff cup housing I use Red and Tacky, best stuff IMO. Inside the diff housing cup and the satellite gears inside, maybe using a heavier oil might help to save those gears. All models stock come with 10k weight diff oil/fluid. Maybe bumping that up to 50k weight, the gears won't be used as much or as hard...? Just stating both as the OP question didn't really specify.

WHite lithium grease killed 2 of my diffs rly quickly
He got another victim?
Red n tacky vs marine grease who wins? And why

I've used silicone brake grease since m very first Mega and have never had a single diff issue.

don't hate me, but ring and pinion I think is what you ment...

I use marine grease.. but also service everything every 6 packs or so...

No hate! I Appreciate! ?

I try to use the terms most common so everyone is on the same page, sometimes trying to reply to fast to pay attention!

I used this stuff. But only because I had some. It's thick n tacky.

I didn't have any greas when I put my truck together.
I used 15.000cst silicon oil inside the sun gears and outside with the pinjong ?‍♂️?
Is this going to be a problem?
3s lipo on a brcc

Inside the diff should be fine. Outside I’m not sure but I would say you don’t need much grease there. If you didn’t completely clean out the old grease there is likely still some in there that you could just move back to the diff gear.

I wouldn't see why nylon gears would need any lubrication,I didn't really notice much on mine after I disassembled them although I did strip one in each vehicle, probably due to trying to back flip 3s rigs in landing on the throttle

Heat and friction. The same reason why you don't run the rear end in your real car dry.

I guess you're right, from a physics perspective, but steel, aluminum and plastic ,nylon are all different materials, creating different levels of friction and or heat,I rarely strip metal spur and pinion gears, with no lubrication, but frequently have stripped nylon gears with it.
