Werner: your videos are great!

I finally had a chance to run the truck this weekend. I'm a natural terrain basher and here are my thoughts. Turns well on loose dirt for such a big truck, but is awful when turning on a grassy field. I have a protek 170 black series servo and its fast and strong, but the grass renders it almost useless. I am going to tighten the servo saver and see if that helps. After my first run I changed the shock oil to 80wt, that made a huge difference in the way it handled and absorbed jumps. It felt plush like my losi 3xle with the shock oil change. Another annoying thing was the amount of grass captured on my rear axles. I'll have to created rear mud/grass guards for continued use in grassy areas. I also went up one tooth on the 1730kv motor from 18 to 19 and the truck woke up. It really needs a 20t pinion for this setup, but there's only room for a 19. I'm going to try a 2000kv motor and possible a 2200kv. The belted trenchers are about 5 mm taller than the non belted trenchers and keeps the power to ground. Now I want a set for my Kraton. Last item that I noticed was the turnbuckle measurements. The chassis came with the turn buckles set to the factory manual measurements, but my manual came with a one page update to the manual with smaller turnbuckle measurements. With the caution axles can fall out of diff cups if you don't adjust your rc before use. Now I know why the extra diff cups were in the box. This happened to me on a jump and sheared one of my rear diff cups. I made the adjustment and no issues. Overall this is a fun non-truggy, classic monster truck that is built extremely well.

Werner: thanks for the setup tips!
interesting review man ! funny that they updated the truck by adding a paper ! could you scan it by any chance ?
i guess they had somebody having troubles once so they immediately reacted for the next customers, that's actually nice !
the overall gearing needs indeed a higher kv motor. did you run the stock tires ?
did you change the diff fluids ?

I didn't run the stock tires yet, I will next weekend. I changed the diff fluid to 50k front, 500k center, 10k rear. I might change the center to 1M, it feels like it could use even thicker diff fluid than the 500k.

oh ok ! stock tires are actually nice and big ! other regular proline felt small and not fun ! 500k is indeed my choice for "traction" bashing : i went to a mix of 1M/500k for easier flips and tricks

that added paper is funny : it's like if they said " please check the work of our people " lol !! and if the universal really were able to fall off, i would rather change the position of the upper suspension arms and choose the lower mounting point on the shock tower ! this squizze the universal INTO the diff outdrive when compressing the suspension

note that i changed the lipo tray's position for easier backflips

I can't tell if half of these are you just making up names for whatever happened by complete accident or if your doing it on purpose. Regardless, great job! LOL!

I totally suck at front flips. You and @bicketybam got them down to a science!

I recall OFNA/Hobao having a TVP'ish nitro MT a few years back. Wasn't the most durable thing.
I have been watching his videos for years, he does it on purpose.

It's essentially the same truck they have just beefed it up over the years. The original Ofna Hyper MT had issues with the TVP bending, I don't recall if the second gen Hobao Hyper MT had this issue @Aussie RC Playground had both at one time he might be able to chime in about that.

I'm torn between this or the Hyper Cage Truggy.

Hi guys, yes, I did have the Ofna Hyper MT V1 and the HoBao Hyper MT Plus. The Hyper V1 was a bit of a mess and needed work, the Hyper MT Plus was solid, but still had issues with the dogbones, which HoBao later changed to universal as standard. These were tough trucks and were a BIG improvement over the Ofan version. This new one looks like a tank, so I'm very curious to get my hands on one and see what it's like. :)

Great video! Glad you decided to close the storm shutters before sending that rig up there ? Your dog was not happy either. @bicketybam will be by soon to talk about your choice of music ??✌?

FTR, I liked it.
