Okay let us make this clear, the esc in the link above isn't a fake it isn't a knockoff it is a 100% Hobbywing made and designed product. It is an OEM esc made for Redcat Racing it is no different than the Arrma BLX100 and the Arrma BXL120 both made and designed by Hobbywing for Arrma. There is no warranty through Hobbywing.

I've had one of those escs for a few years now and I have not had a single problem with it.

-edit- Literally the only difference between the Hobbywing Max10 SCT and the Max10 SCT RTR is the temp plug and the switch, it still has all of the same program settings.
Did you not see this on your link? It's in plain 'chinglish' ;) I couldn't say it any better ?
In short, the packaging is slightly different.

" RTR version of the ESC: RTR version of the ESC is factory direct production to the car model factory supply of electricity, such as Wo Bao hsp this car model factory direct supply version, the appearance and function of the ESC is no difference, the main Is the packaging, because it is directly to the car model factory so the factory does not provide original box packaging, only a simple packaging,100% Brand New. (Contain T plugs, banana head, heat shrinkable tube, double-sided adhesive)"
Nope, missed that on the site. Reading it is giving me an aneurysm though. lol!

The Max 8 RTR one says it's 6/7.4V
Oh god I read that wrong, where it says 6a I thought it said 6v my bad.

Oh and lied above, Hobbywing makes those rtr escs for other brands as well, I just noticed the Sworkz Fox 4x4 uses the WP-10BL50 esc.
And I am almost positive the esc that @olds97_lss posted is the one that comes in the Sworkz Zeus MT.
I tried watching a review for the Zeus the other day and I gave up because the translator was horible.

The first link you posted says up to 8s.! Might have to ask KT to try one, he knows what to do if it doesn't go well ?️
They are both Max6 rebrands I didn't even notice that the second one was only up to 6s.

Does anyone have experience with some of the 'hobbywing' ESC's from AliExpress or other Chinese sites?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...DlnE_xlioYTXHWUO56waAoiyEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Is this one of those knock offs that will basically go straight to the garbage, or a viable cost savings option if I'm willing to wait for the long ocean voyage?
I have bought both the Max6 and Max5 from AliExpress and been very happy with them both. They came in a fully branded HobbyWing box right down to the hologram stickers . Identical to the stuff I can buy at my ‘local’ hobby shop.

I think my esc is messed up, will this get me up and running again: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/400...earchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_

I have a burned one of those in my shop. They are low quality and very much NOT waterproof or even splash proof. On the other hand I have not managed to kill the $20 TSky 120a "TRex" I run in my son's ECX Amp MT running a 3,300 kv 3650 Surpass motor. It does 70+ Kph but it's a light 2WD 1/10 scale truck. I bought two expecting to kill one, but so far I have not hurt it despite running mostly on 3S. If you do get a cheap one like this, grab some dielectric grease and/or liquid electrical tape and put it on the external connections where the motor, power, and cap pack wires are soldered. Use the grease around the fan and programming port. I've had much better luck with Banggood (and faster shipping) than with AliExpress - but AliExpress has a better selection of ESCs and motors - especially the Rocket motors which I like.

I had one of those in my Ruckus for about a year or so then one day it just wouldn't turn on anymore.

Thinking about trying this while I get a replacement. https://www.ebay.com/itm/120A-Brushless-ESC-Electric-Speed-Controller-Accessories-for-1-8-1-10-RC-Car/373045125896?epid=8042990140&hash=item56db38e308:g:Ia8AAOSw6~dfH7Px&LH_BIN=1&autorefresh=true Says it's one town over so it should ship quick. I messaged the seller some questions.
That's the esc that myself and @L3phturn were talking about, when mine worked it worked great. And a little secret if you use version V3.52.02 of the Hobbywing software and this adapter https://hobbyking.com/en_us/usb-pro...990&indexName=hbk_live_magento_en_us_products you can upload Hobbywing firmware to it and use the software to adjust the program settings. Do note that that adapter will not work with any of the Hobbywing or Arrma escs I tried.

Thanks! So I really wanted to get my car running and the blue esc would take a week on ebay and on amazon they have it for $25 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...7&pd_rd_w=03aWU&pd_rd_wg=AuP11&ref_=pd_gw_unk but it doesn't have the motor wire sockets in the picture so that would set me back so I just bought the $50 goolrc 120a off amazon to get me running https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VCR47RP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Seems to work, can't wait to rip it. I also found out my chassis is cracked. I'm still going to order the cheap one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/120A-Brushless-ESC-Electric-Speed-Controller-Accessories-for-1-8-1-10-RC-Car/373045125896?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m2763.l2649
I used two pieces of double sticky tape to mount the new one and the new switch since it didn't have mounting holes.

Those are traxxas chrome turnbuckles and traxxas aluminum buckles. My buddy crashed into the side of me doing full speed and I'm surprised only the rod end broke off shearing the rod. So I put traxxas links on there. Then I went back and bought the aluminum hop up kit after looking up lengths of the rods online. I didn't like how the oem black coating turned to rust lol.

Good news! I got a refund on the esc I bought, yay! But I think I need to program it because it doesn't have top speed. Not sure which programming card to get. The rcharlance 120a esc looks like a hobbywing EZRUN-SC8 knockoff. Funny thing is, when you open the amazon link to the esc, they're changed the name to 80a lol. Anyone help me out with the program card?
I think this should work:https://www.amazon.com/RCRunning-Pr...lance+program+card&qid=1612673095&sr=8-3&th=1
It looks like the chart from the esc manual.

Programming has nothing or little to do with top speed.
You need to do a throttle range adjust per manual, the ESC has to know what full throttle is, based on your configuration.

How do I do this now that I have this switch on the esc:
1612673016434.png

They are just two push buttons. Either, or, turns it on or off. I can't figure it out.

I only use the 10BL120's. Just makes sense in my 1/10 stuff off road and on road. Not HWNA certified, but I haven't any issues. It is legit, just got purchased through non warrantiable channels. That's all. These are low priced ESC's anyway. I wouldn't invest in $100.+ HW ESC's this way however. I usually get the HW NA ESC's for warranty purposes. Warranties expire anyway. HW Global or NA, at some price point makes sense to get what's cheaper. IDK. It's your wallet and gamble. We all make those judgements calls.

That's a 2 wire switch. There is no set button. That's how I see that switch. I have that same ESC but different single sliding switch (2 wire also) In the picture above OFF is clearly there. The other button must be ON. 🤷‍♂️ I use a prog. card that came with mine for resetting and programming.
