It is seemingly to be a hobbywing thing. I have even seen the max 6 do it as well. I am willing to say they switched suppliers and are now receiving inferior parts.

No the BLX100 and BLX120 have NiMH mode. You just need a lipo alarm.

Relying on a lipo alarm is a bit odd what if it flies of or something

I run the blx185 on my granite and solved everything. It was way more then enough for it to be reliable

They're very light and can be fastened with velcro or similar. I don't think it'll fly off even if it's not strapped down.

It seems the BLX120 is a common solution if you can get Horizon to warranty it the 100 for the 120. That’s what my hobby shop was doing.

However, HH is out of stock of the BLX120 until sometime in May. I ended up ordering my own replacement motor and ESC to drop in. I’ll hopefully be finishing it up today after swapping the chassis.
