Does anyone have photos of bat safe boxes WITH lipos inside?

Ammo boxes are fine. It's just if something burns where to the fumes go? I simply don't know how poisonous the are or if you're fine if you ventilate the area for two hours. The safe boxes have a filter.

Lipo storage is like an insurance policy. When you need it you want it to be actually doing it's job.

There is little energy in lipos (energy per weight MJ/kilo) compared to fuel. So it's a short intense fire. Ammo boxes without seal are perfect. Just the fumes...

Lead battery: 0,11 MJ/kg
Lipo: 0,54 MJ/kg (Explains why electric cars are so heavy compared to fuel cars)
Coal: 11,3 MJ/kg
Dry wood: 16,8 MJ/kg
Petrol / Gas: 40-42 MJ/kg
Diesel: 43 MJ/kg
Hydrogen at 1 bar (14,5 psi) : 120 MJ/kg

MJ = megajoule
1kg = 1000 of the small weights. 🤪

All that toxic smoke in your home or garage can suck as the smoke permeates everything. Some of these Lipo fires burn for tens of minutes and some can even explode. Can you imaging getting that toxic smoke out of your furnishings.
I still recommend a BBQ out in the yard or if you are going to store and charge the batteries inside, some type of device that has containment and provides a way to vent the smoke out of your house and or garage.
Here are some vids I found interesting.

Make sure you leave a Thumbs up or subscribe for these people as it looks like these people went through a lot of time and expense to show us what we all want to avoid.

I have a medium Batt-Safe and also (3) 50 cal. Ammo boxes. (3/4 of the seals removed) Best to spread out the Watt hours evenly of all the lipos in several boxes. I have like 18 lipos in all, at any given time.
One bad lipo will ignite the the others in the box, creating a chain reaction with all of them. Worst case, yet very probable.
The Batt-Safe will only filter some of the Black soot, The smoke itself will be expelled outside anyway. It cannot and should not be contained. It has to release pressure/smoke somehow or the box becomes a projectile.(n) A very hazardous Fail.:rolleyes:

Ammo cans are cheap and will do fine. I use several to store my lipo's, I don't want to overfill them in case something goes wrong. That way the fire is bigger and you loose a lot more lipo's.

I 3D printed some racks to organize the ammo cans ...

Removed the rubber seal on the side only ... plenty pressure release and no rattling lid.

Nice! Love the rack idea!! Very cool.

I think ammo boxes are in my future. The harbor freight kind. And I may get a few small bat safes for charging.

How fancy do I need to get with the wire extensions?

Here's my setup. I could probably use one more just for storage to spread the capacity around. As someone else said, ammo cans are cheap and contain the fire but do nothing about the massive amounts of toxic smoke. I'd rather spend a little more to get the best insurance I can against a catastrophic event. How much do we spend on our trucks only to get cheap when it comes to battery fires?

Very impressed with your 3D work.........(y)
And Ammo cans are the way to go, just making sure to vent them. Removing 3/4 of the seal.

This is the direction I’m heading. Working on sourcing longer cables and will prob start with 2x bat safes and 2x ammo box. One set for charging one set for storage
