Should it actually go in the channel 3 spot or am I correct on the B (battery) spot?

It doesn't matter, If it uses only power in can be plugged to either slot, channel or battery.

I've been in this hobby since 2015 and just learned this last year after I bought my Outcast my 8th rc.............I felt so special when someone said to just plug a glitch buster into any open socket on the receiver.

Sounds like it is going into low voltage cutoff. Have you checked the cell voltages on your LiPo?

Other possibility is thermal shutdown. Is the motor or ESC getting excessively hot?

My motor is getting hot and shutting down and not accelerating fast
