Could always get a 2nd Granite, slap some ST wheels on it and a different body, and gear it up. You’d still have more travel/ride height but otherwise they’re basically the same truck based on the posted specs.
It looks like the body posts are different too?

If we are all really being honest here we’re a little spoiled by arrma actually listening to us, the customer, so when we get new products that don’t have every wishlist box checked it’s easy to be disappointed. I think the biggest disappointment is the price tag. At $330-350 I think a lot of us would have thought the value was there so cool a new truck, but pushing $400 is just too much. Other brands charge more, ok, this isn’t them This...is...arrmaaaaa

High speed basher I'm assuming?

After seeing the videos of the vorteks 4x4 theres a lot of changes specially the shock towers. And its faster than any 3s in the market i believe atm out of the box at 55mph on 17t at 20t it will hit over 60mph. It got me worried that arrma was fellowing traxxas adverisement with that huge claim in the box. The traxxas rustler claims 60mph but does 42mph out of the box the option pinion gives u 52ish mph and its cooking the elctronics you had to buy a seperate pinion to hit that 60mph. Happy to see this isnt the case with the vortek. But the colors suck man only the purple looks nice. The v2 arrma bodies were perfect why change it to more ugly ones
Rustler is 479$ right? The vortek is 380$🤯
High speed basher I'm assuming?
It is 55mph on stock pinion
Especially since the only net new thing is really the radio.
Tires, shock towers, esc radio with smart ready and other stuff that we already know.

I won't comment on the price until the one I ordered is in my hands. Over here in Australia it's $30 to $50 dearer than a Granite which isn't too bad given that you get a much better radio with AVC, and the Smart telemetry ESC.

I guess it depends what you're in the market for. I wanted stability and speed which the Vorteks seems to deliver. It hits 55mph out of the box and is glued to the road, that's pretty impressive for a 1/10th scale truck.

I've been thinking of getting a Senton, but this one looks like a pretty cool truck. All of the colors are horrible though, I'd be forced to get a new one.

I kinda like the body. The boxy bodies are wearing on me. It's something Arrma can add to their tool box to rope in new customers. Might see some leave the VXL and come over ;).
I'd love to see a Fazon comeback.

The videos are rolling out and so far I'm really liking what I'm seeing. Super fast and stable.

I think the price is okay if you can find a deal. I use eBay plus and that has saved me a ton of money. Eg in Australia in retails for $600AU however I snagged it for $488.75. That's a significant saving and sadly why I don't bother with brick n mortar hobby stores any more; which sucks as I want to support them but the cost of RC is too high as it is.

The Losi release looks interesting - maybe some competition for the 4-Tec.
It's just a Vaterra V100 with worse electronics.
  • 540 Brushed Motor
  • 45A 2-in-1 ESC/Rx

A few people have already mentioned it, but it seems alot of people missed the main change in the Vorteks. Yes, it has upgraded electronics, but the main change is the lower shock towers and shocks. It's kindof Arrma's fault so many missed this major change, because Arrma doesn't mention it ANYWHERE.

These parts are all completely new and exclusive to the Vorteks. 4x4 BLX owners who enjoy high speed/ripping turns and are more concerned with performance on the ground than in the air should be very interested in these as upgrades to their Granite/Big Rock/Typhon/Senton

https://www.arrma-rc.com/part/ARA550091 Judging from YouTube reviews, the tires are a bit firmer which should minimize ballooning at high speed

Not sure how this guy got a Vorteks 3 weeks ago. But you can see the difference in handling. The short wheel base and short shocks make the Vorteks a really quick stable turner and it stays on the ground at high speed. The rest of the 3s line does not run like this.

It seems to be a pretty amazing add on the the 3s lineup. Wonder how the updated 4s is going to and the price considering this one is 379$ compared to the 399$ 4s..🤔

I don’t see the real difference in purpose over the Rock or Granite. They do 55 too. Seems the radio and better bearings. Not enough for me to buy one when I have an upgraded Granite. I am moving to an Outcast. Another 3S doesn’t make sense. Then I am broke and Arrma is wealthy. Lol.

These parts are all completely new and exclusive to the Vorteks. 4x4 BLX owners who enjoy high speed/ripping turns and mainly stay on the ground should be very interested in these as upgrades to their Granite/Big Rock/Typhon/Senton (I'm assuming they are compatible, I could be wrong)

I saw that too but it crosses paths with the granite. Maybe if it was 6 S. I don’t have a reason when I have a new Granite

Is this because it lays the shock flatter vs the rest of the 3s lineup so the suspension movement is more progressive, so it loads and unloads less under small compressions and ramps quickly under large ones? Better on the ground handling at the expense of less ability to absorb hits from huge jumps etc?
