Deanodizing fun

Even with my rotary tool it still took me about 3 hours to polish everything then another 30 min to clean everything off.
I'll upload pics when I get home.

I'm not going to "lye", but this thread is "bare"ly able to "shine" in the midst of all the other "polished" content. I apologize if you find my comments rather "caustic";). Keep it up gents. Looking forward to seeing all the fruits of your labor, but our boy @Thomas P https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/tpparts-rcxtremes-jump-hybrid.12606/post-150784 is definitely working to be number one in the high gloss department.
That's way too much time and effort for a toy car, it was bad enough de-anodizing and the quick polish that it did get.

No more red.

I know its an older thread but did anyone try 'sharkhide' to protect the finish? It works wonders on pontoon boats, even in saltwater.
It's a bit expensive but should protect that shine for an extended period.

Interesting stuff. Thanks for showing it and I'm gonna look for more info. Do you use the aerosol for pontoons and how many cans would you go through? If it covers a lot I feel it could be worth the cost.

haven't tried "sharkhide" but have tried Boeshield T9 to protect finish on metals before with great results. It was developed by Boeing to use on their planes. It also says its useful for drying wet parts, electrical motors and circuits, ignitions, and connectors. https://www.amazon.com/BOESHIELD-Corrosion-Protection-Waterproof-Lubrication/dp/B001447PEK/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2KLNPKN78CK3P&dchild=1&keywords=boeshield+t-9&qid=1582174315&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=boeshield,sporting,161&sr=1-1
  • Flushes out dirt and old lubricants, displaces moisture, and penetrates moving parts
  • Dries to a thin, waxy film that clings to metal for months
-' safe on paints, any metal surfaces, plastics, and vinyl

I like the wax coating and this isn't so expensive either. Neat looking stuff
