Is this plastic 'sleeve' important?

Should I worry and replace?

Thank you guys for the fast reply!

So what was the original purpose for the sleeve??

And to take it off..
Do you undo the grub screws and take the input cup off to remove that sleeve?

It holds the grub screw in place without having to use thread lock.

Its part of the "SAFE-D" system.

Umm, I'm not so sure it's OK to run without it.

I believe with the SAFE-D sleeves, they help hold the grub screw in (which is why they don't come drenched in red Loctite anymore) - if you remove the sleeve you may find that the grub screw won't hold anymore.

EDIT: Beat by a few knowledgeable folks :)

Same, I think you need the old version cup or maybe there is a Mugen/Tekno alternative to do away with it.

Just slap some thread lock on it it will hold just the same as the old style cups.

Sleeve comes off the back of the cup so must be removed..👍..

As stated, sleeve only retains the grub screw without thread lock.. the grubs are longer than in non sleeved cups.. shorter grub, Loctite, and your back to original cups..👍..

Oh yeah I forget they are longer.
I dislike those sleeves and the stock cups in general. I've had a few crooked ones.

Tekno cups fit and are always machined perfectly. TKR5075
Both of the ones on my Kraton 6s EXB and the take off diffs I picked up from Jennys were absolute crap. The ones on the Fireteam were great though.

This is the kind of crap that should not make it out the door during assembly.

-Edit- the one on the left is an example of what they should look like, aside from the plastic inside it, the one on the right is how they should not look.
