It's actually the full spiral from an .080 left hand drill.... I had a stuck 3mm screw that I drilled the head off of... I couldn't find my handy dandy left hand drill package that had a bigger dia. assortment of drills... I figured I'd try with the only one I could find... an .080, as I figured it couldn't be in there tight I literally put the drill on it and gave it some juice & a "tad" of pressure... while holding it in my hand... it snapped immediately!!! I originally thought just the broken part still in the drill stabbed me, but 3hrs later it was still leaking.... and started swelling.
And trust me, I looked all over tge floor looking for that broken spiral piece!!! Just hoping its not lodged into the joint....only an xray will tell!!! I'll keep yall posted... Mike View attachment 342357

I broke an .035 carbide drill in my middle finger years ago... right on the top knuckle, in between the joint. .. urgent care got the big part out but unable to get the shattered bits out that were stuck in between the joint....carbide shatters!!! Even on impact with bone!!! That one needed surgery to get all the shrapnel out.... thus is atleast hss.. Mike

I've definitely drilled my hand in the same exact spor more then a couole times. That's when a drill breaks and you ram the darn thing into your hand... shouldn't happen because you shouldn't be pushing with that amount of force but hey, impatient happens..

I've never had a piece break off and be stuck in there though! Thats pretty epic man!

Hopefully none of your nerves are affected..had a friend that accidentally shot his finger with a bb pellet and they said it would cause nerve damage if they removed it .so he decided to leave it .when do you plan to go to the specialist? Hopefully tomorrow or soon
