So I think it's time to build another kit..!!
I'm looking at a race buggy for light bashing, I don't currently have a Typhon as a buggy as mine is currently a drag car.. (do have a Radix though)

Been looking at Mugen, Tekno and XRAY what do you think would be the toughest..??
I can get XRAY and Tekno in my area but I've no idea who stocks Mugen where I am 🤔

Any thoughts...

don't no anything about the race kits but would love the xray xt8e truggy. there a bit expensive really don't think I would want to bash it once it was all built up and ready to go there too pretty. you could probably have two kraton 6s rtr's for the price of one xt8e

Sounds counter-productive, but they all are tough to withstand racing crashes. These rigs have such tight tolerances in steering and drivetrain efficiency that you’re better off paying less for something that is designed to purposely create slop and replace when broken with readily available components. Chassis’ are tough 7075 but thin and lightweight, not designed to go Talbot at the skatepark.

Tekno eb48.3 or et48 2.0 parts are easy to get from tekno, ebay or amazon mever had issues getting carbon parts. i owned eb48 1/8 on 6s and eb410 on 2s both vehicles was bashers/street driven.

Bashing a xray or mugen is nuts but pockets are deep go for it 🤣 typhon 6s with 2200 castle combo and a 46t infraction spur up gearing to 23t will get you right

I just picked up the Tekno sc410sl kit , but not to bash but set up as my 4wd race rig . I would get Tekno as they are beefy , parts availability, price . I have an X-ray, hard to get and pricey .
If I ever were to get into our large 1/8 scale dirt track racing for buggy / truggy , I would be getting the Tekno EB48 2.1 .

I have a 2007 Xray buggy that I picked up second hand, was nitro, now electric. It's my only exposure I've had with Xray, but wow, what a piece it is. I bang around my backyard track with it on 4s. Other than bearings and fluids, it's all just as it was when I bought it 8 years ago. It needed a spur gear, I priced it out at $50.. nah. I just bought a TC center diff complete from JRC and dropped it in. $25.. with aluminum cup,LOL.
I say go with what's easily available in your geographic. All race rig parts are rather pricey I have found so, matters more what tickles ur fancy and readily available..
FWIW, alot of parts are still available for my 2007 Xray, that says alot IMO.

Thing is I've got two Tekno's already, MT410 and SCT410.3, so I really fancied something different.
Must admit, even though I'm in the UK Tekno parts are easy to get and the UK distributor is an awesome guy..!!

Just waiting on a reply from one of my LHS's about stock of the XRAY, and you'd never believe it but it might be cheaper than the Tekno..!!!
1/10 or 1/8!? 🤔

Tekno used to offer 50% parts, had to send them the old part, not sure if they still do that or not.

Mugen!!!!!

@Koma7 ... Are you racing these or bashing..???

I have since found a UK stockist of both Mugen and XRAY, my luck they're both out of stock..!!! 🤣🤣
Tekno is in stock though 🤔

Question about these buggies, I see some use pillow balls up front and some use C-hubs, is there a reason why one may be better over the other.??
I'm tagging you into this @razorrc, as your the only person I know who may be able to explain to me why, and what's better 😎

They do but only North American customers iirc.

I raced Mugen for 3 years at a 75% ride. I like c hubs, I like pivot balls. Mugen is all pivot, Tekno is c hubs.

Tekno- made in Mexico.
Mugen- made in Japan.

The main reason why so many love Mugen is for their exact tolerances. Japan made poop, there just is no better.

On a side note if you are not a tuner, c-hubs are easier to tweak. Either way you go, you won’t be buying arrma or crap sucks any more👍🏻😂

Idk why I always think Tekno is made in Taiwan, even though I have known that they are made in Mexico.

But anywho @BashingBrian all 3 are great choices and imho at the end of the day no matter which one you choose you will enjoy the car.

@Koma7 ...

Rot Rennen!
Gelb Bashing!!
